As a vegan, you have some extra requirements for those you might want to swap homes with.

 For example, you don't like it when meat or fish is prepared in your kitchen. You really prefer not to have that!

 Moreover, in the house where you end up yourself, you don't want to lie under woolen blankets or sit on leather chairs.

 At Ervade, you only exchange with vegans and get to know each other first via the built-in chat function. You can also meet up for dinner or a walk before handing over your house keys.

 This is how you ensure you won't face any unpleasant surprises.

Of course, you don't have to be a vegan to go hiking! But it is certainly very nice to meet like-minded people, and that is why we developed Ervade.

 Through our platform, you can connect with vegans and make plans to meet for an activity or meal.

 You can also offer a camping spot in your garden, a guest room, or even your entire house. You are rewarded for everything you offer, so that you can also make use of the offers from others.

 We have only just started and currently have about 25 members. There are no fees charged as long as we stay below 100 members, so you can try it out without obligation.

 You only have access to the platform after you have been identified; this is to prevent fake profiles. The first international members (Germany and England) have joined, and we would very much like to grow into a global community!

Of course, you don't have to be a vegan to go hiking! But it is certainly very nice to meet like-minded people, and that is why we developed Ervade.

Do you not eat meat or fish? But what do you eat then?
 I am asked this question very often. I am 69 now, and I have been a committed vegetarian since I was six, and a vegan for the last 10 years. "Isn't that difficult?" That is also often asked, but if it is your conviction, then it is not difficult at all.

 All vegetables, fruits, nuts, herbs, and seeds are vegan, and just look at the incredibly wide range we can choose from.

 For many vegans I know, food actually receives a great deal of attention. The cooking is usually flavorful and varied. But for vegans, it goes much further than food; it also concerns clothing and home furnishings, all of which must be free from animal materials or animal suffering.

 Through our new platform, vegans can connect with each other to exchange experiences, learn from one another, stay with each other, or swap homes.

On Sunday, September 19, 2026, we will be at the NL Vegan Fair in the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam.
 For us, it will be the first time presenting Ervade live. We are naturally very curious how that will go, and secretly, we also find it a little bit exciting.

 It is the third time that this fair is being organized by the Dutch Association for Veganism, and the fair is well attended.

We will be at the Vegan Fair on September 19.

Two months ago, someone stayed in our house while we were away in the camper. We like our house to be occupied when we are away, and furthermore, we want our cat to be well cared for.

 Unfortunately, traces were left behind in our house that we, as vegans, found unpleasant, and we decided that from now on, we only want to swap our house with vegans.

 After some research, it turned out there wasn't really an online platform for that, so I decided to create one myself. The first version is online, and there are already 25 sign-ups.

 To make it truly interesting for our members, we naturally need many more members, so that is our next challenge!
